Why it exists
Book time is one number for every tech, every car and every bay. Your actual time is the one number the shop never sees and you never get to compare. Pooled across techs, it shows which op codes pay and which quietly don't. Flat Rate Ledger is on the tech's side of that comparison.
Warranty times aren't a perfect measure of a job. But they're usually well under what the same job is quoted at the counter, and that gap is worth knowing. Right now nobody outside the shop can see it. With enough techs logging, we can.
What's shared, what never is
- Op code as you named it
- Vehicle make, model, year
- Book hours the flag on the RO
- Your timed hours from a timer, never an estimate
- Month never the day
- Your name
- Your shop
- RO number
- Customer, VIN or plate
- Your pay, rate or stub
The floor
Five techs. Nothing is pooled for a job until at least five different techs have logged it. Below five, your rows sit alone and nobody sees them, other techs included.
It's on by default
Accounts created on or after October 1, 2026 contribute unless you switch it off. Older accounts are off until you turn it on. Guest mode never contributes.
Turning it off
- 1Settings, then Contribute to True Time.
- 2Switch it off. That's the whole process.
- 3Everything you contributed is deleted from the pool. Deleted, not hidden.
What you'll get back
Once the pool is deep enough: real times next to book times on your own op codes, and a straight answer to "does this job pay." Not yet. When it ships, it shows up on this page first.
