Terms of Service

The deal

Flat Rate Ledger (“the app”) is built and run by Liem Dinh, an individual developer in Los Angeles, California (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

What the app is

A personal record-keeping tool for flat rate technicians: you log your work, and the app adds it up, compares it with what you were paid, and helps you keep evidence. You must be at least 18 to use it.

Not advice, not a guarantee

The app works only from what you enter, and its figures are estimates to help you keep track. They are not legal, tax, accounting or payroll advice, and they are not a statement of what any employer owes you. Pay rules differ by shop, contract, city and state. Check your pay stub and your agreement with your employer, and talk to a qualified professional before acting on a pay dispute. You are responsible for the decisions you make with the app's numbers.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at support@flatrateledger.com if you think someone else has gotten in.

Your data stays yours

You own what you put into the app. You give us permission to store, process and display it only so we can run the app for you, and for True Time when it's turned on, exactly as the Privacy Policy describes. You can download a backup or delete your account whenever you want.

Only upload what you have the right to keep. RO paperwork can carry customer details and your employer's information; keep what you store to what you need for your own records, and follow your employer's rules about it.

Fair use

Don't use the app to:

  • break the law or anyone else's rights;
  • get into accounts or data that aren't yours, or test the app's security without our written permission;
  • overload, scrape or disrupt it, or work around its limits;
  • upload malware, or content that is abusive or not yours to share;
  • copy or resell the app, or reverse-engineer it beyond what the law allows.

Price

The app is free right now. If we ever add paid features, we'll say so clearly before anything is charged, and nothing you've already logged will be held back behind a payment.

Feedback

If you send a bug report, idea or suggestion, we may use it to improve the app without owing you anything for it. Thank you; most of the app started that way.

Changes and availability

The app is improved all the time, so features may change or be removed. We work to keep it running and your data safe, but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. Keep your own backups of anything you can't afford to lose; the backup download in Settings is there for exactly that.

Ending things

You can stop using the app and delete your account any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the app or other users at risk; where we reasonably can, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to download your data. If we ever shut the app down, we'll give at least 30 days' notice so you can export your records.

Disclaimers and limits

The app is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of results, to the fullest extent the law allows.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including lost wages, lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Before filing anything, please email us so we can try to sort it out informally. Any dispute that can't be resolved that way goes to the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it somewhere else.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. For changes that matter, we'll tell you in the app before they take effect. Using the app after that means you accept the new terms. Questions: support@flatrateledger.com.
